Create your Facebook QR code

Facebook page

Type the part after facebook.com/, or paste the full link to your page, profile, group or event.

Your QR code appears here as you fill in the form.

Test it with your phone camera before you print or share it: point the camera at the preview and check it does what you expect.

How much of the code can be dirty, scratched or covered and still scan. Higher levels add more squares, so the code gets denser. Medium suits most uses; choose High for a logo or rough surfaces.

The blank border scanners need around the code. It never goes below 4 modules (the code’s small squares), as the QR standard asks.

Sharp up to 17 cm (6.8 in) at 300 dpi. SVG scales to any size.

Logo in the center (optional)

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or SVG. It stays in your browser and is never uploaded.

How to make a Facebook QR code

  1. Enter your page name or link

Type the part of your page’s address after facebook.com/, or paste the full link to your page, profile, group or event.

  2. Check the link

Open “What’s inside this code” and open the link, signed out if you can, to see what other people will see.

  3. Style it (optional)

Pick colors and add your logo.

  4. Download it

Download a PNG for screens or an SVG for print.

  5. Test it

Scan it with your phone and check it opens the right page in the Facebook app or browser.

What a Facebook QR code contains

The code holds the web address of your page, profile, group or event. Phones with the Facebook app usually open it there; others open it in the browser.

https://www.facebook.com/juniperandrye
facebook.com/name
A page or profile with a username.
profile.php?id=…
A page or profile without a username. Paste the whole link.
facebook.com/groups/…
A group. Paste the whole link.
facebook.com/events/…
An event. Paste the whole link.

If your page has a username, use it: the address is shorter, so the code is simpler and scans more easily.

Tips for printing and scanning

For Facebook QR codes

  • Check what people see when they aren’t your friend or a group member: private groups and profiles show much less.
  • People who aren’t logged in to Facebook may be asked to log in to see more. Test with a phone that isn’t logged in.
  • Say what people get, for example “Scan to follow us for daily specials”.

For any printed QR code

  • Size: print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for something held in the hand. For signs and posters, make it about a tenth of the scanning distance: roughly 10 cm (4 in) wide to scan from 1 m (3 ft).
  • Contrast: use a dark code on a light background. Light-on-dark codes and pale brand colors fail on some phones.
  • Quiet zone: keep a blank border of at least 4 modules (the code’s small squares) around it. Don’t crop it or put text and graphics right up against the code.
  • File type: use the SVG for print, since it stays sharp at any size. The 2048 px PNG is enough for print up to about 17 cm (6.8 in) wide at 300 dpi.
  • Surface: avoid glare from glossy laminate, tight curves (bottles, cups) and folds that cut through the code.
  • Test: scan a printed proof with an iPhone and an Android phone, at the real distance and in the real lighting, before you print in bulk.

When to use a dynamic code instead

A dynamic code lets you change the destination later, for example from your page to this month’s event, and counts how many people scanned it.

Dynamic codes need a free CirculateQR account. On the free plan a dynamic code stays live for 14 days after you publish it; on a paid plan your codes stay live with no time limit, or you can keep a single code for a one-time $5.

The code you make on this page is static: free, permanent and private, but fixed once printed. Static and dynamic codes compared.

Facebook QR code questions

How do I find my Facebook page link?

Open your page and copy the address from your browser, or tap Share on the page in the app and choose Copy link.

Can I make a QR code for a Facebook group or event?

Yes. Copy the group’s or event’s link and paste the whole link above.

Do Facebook QR codes expire?

No. The code holds the link directly, so it works as long as the page and its username stay the same.

Do people need Facebook to scan it?

No. Any phone camera can scan it, and public pages open in the browser without the app, though Facebook may ask people to log in to see more.

Can I see how many people scanned it?

Not with a static code. A dynamic CirculateQR code counts every scan.
