How much of the code can be dirty, scratched or covered and still scan. Higher levels add more squares, so the code gets denser. Medium suits most uses; choose High for a logo or rough surfaces.

The blank border scanners need around the code. It never goes below 4 modules (the code’s small squares), as the QR standard asks.

Sharp up to 17 cm (6.8 in) at 300 dpi. SVG scales to any size.

Logo in the center (optional)

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or SVG. It stays in your browser and is never uploaded.

How to make a social media QR code

  1. Choose the platform

Pick Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X or GitHub, or choose another site.

  2. Enter your username or profile link

Type your username (with or without the @), or paste the full link to your profile or page.

  3. Check the link

Open “What’s inside this code” and open the link to check it’s your profile.

  4. Download it

Download a PNG for posts and screens, or an SVG for print.

  5. Test it

Scan the code with your phone and check it opens your profile in the app.

What a social media QR code contains

The code holds your profile’s web address. On a phone with the app installed, the link usually opens straight in the app; otherwise it opens in the browser.

If you change your username, the old link stops working and so does the code. LinkedIn usernames make personal profile links (/in/name); for a company page, paste the full link.

Tips for printing and scanning

For social media QR codes

  • Add the platform’s name or icon next to the code, so people know which app will open.
  • One code per platform keeps things simple. For several platforms, use a link-in-bio page.
  • Check your profile is public, or people who scan will hit a private account.

For any printed QR code

  • Size: print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide for something held in the hand. For signs and posters, make it about a tenth of the scanning distance: roughly 10 cm (4 in) wide to scan from 1 m (3 ft).
  • Contrast: use a dark code on a light background. Light-on-dark codes and pale brand colors fail on some phones.
  • Quiet zone: keep a blank border of at least 4 modules (the code’s small squares) around it. Don’t crop it or put text and graphics right up against the code.
  • File type: use the SVG for print, since it stays sharp at any size. The 2048 px PNG is enough for print up to about 17 cm (6.8 in) wide at 300 dpi.
  • Surface: avoid glare from glossy laminate, tight curves (bottles, cups) and folds that cut through the code.
  • Test: scan a printed proof with an iPhone and an Android phone, at the real distance and in the real lighting, before you print in bulk.

When to use a dynamic code instead

A static code links to one profile. Use a link-in-bio page with a dynamic code to put all your profiles and links behind one code, change them any time, and see how many people scanned.

Dynamic codes need a free CirculateQR account. On the free plan a dynamic code stays live for 14 days after you publish it; on a paid plan your codes stay live with no time limit, or you can keep a single code for a one-time $5.

The code you make on this page is static: free, permanent and private, but fixed once printed. Static and dynamic codes compared.

Social media QR code questions

Can I make an Instagram QR code here?

Yes. Choose Instagram and type your username. The code opens your profile in the Instagram app, or in the browser if the app isn’t installed.

Do social media QR codes expire?

No. The code made here holds your profile link directly, so it works as long as your username stays the same.

What happens if I change my username?

The old link breaks, and so does a static code. Make a new code, or use a dynamic code or link-in-bio page so you can update the link without reprinting.

Can one QR code link to all my social media?

Not directly: a QR code holds one link. Link it to a link-in-bio page that lists all your profiles. CirculateQR’s social profile template makes one.

Isn’t the app’s own QR code enough?

Instagram, TikTok and others have built-in profile codes, which are fine for sharing in person. This generator lets you choose colors, add your logo, and download a high-resolution PNG or SVG for print.

Can I see how many people scanned it?

Not with a static code. A dynamic code or a hosted link-in-bio page in CirculateQR counts scans.
