Alternatives

Looking for a QR Code Generator alternative?

If you use QR Code Generator (now “QRCG by Bitly”) and want more dynamic codes for the price, monthly billing, routing rules or AI-designed codes, CirculateQR is built for that: Studio is $12 a month for up to 100 new dynamic codes a month; QR Code Generator’s Starter includes 2. If you rely on its many landing-page types, team logins or SOC 2 compliance, it may suit you better.

QR Code Generator (qr-code-generator.com, now branded “QRCG by Bitly”) is a dynamic QR code manager that is part of Bitly; its legal notice names Bitly Europe GmbH in Berlin. Reasons

Why people look for a QR Code Generator alternative

Each comes from QR Code Generator's own pages, linked below it. Whether it matters depends on how you use QR Code Generator.

Two dynamic codes on Starter

Starter is $9.99 a month billed annually, or $19.99 monthly, for 2 dynamic codes. Advanced (50 codes, $18.99 a month) and Professional are billed annually only.

Trial codes switch off when the trial ends

There’s a 14-day trial but no free plan for dynamic codes; its help center says they’re deactivated and point to a service page when the trial expires.

No routing rules

We didn’t find device, time, location or language rules on its site; its App Store code sends iPhones and Android phones to the right store.

No AI-generated QR art

We didn’t find AI artwork with the code built in among its code types or design options.

Instead

What you get with CirculateQR

Matched to those reasons, in order. Plan limits are on the pricing page.

  • Up to 100 new dynamic codes a month on Studio ($12 a month, or $115 a year), with no cap on live codes, and monthly billing on every paid plan.
  • A free plan with no end date: 10 QR credits a month; up to 5 dynamic codes live at once, each live 14 days unless upgraded or unlocked for $5; unlimited static codes.
  • Routing by device, language, time, location, weather and scan count, with A/B splits.
  • AI QR art, decoded with a QR reader and repaired if the art breaks the code. Studio includes 10 AI credits a month; credit packs (from $9 for 10 AI credits) work on any plan.
Trade-offs

What you'd give up

Where QR Code Generator is stronger, or what CirculateQR doesn't offer today.

  • Scale: over 10 million users by its own count, as part of Bitly, and around 16 landing-page types, including vCard Plus, coupons, feedback and GS1 2D barcodes.
  • Frames, saved design templates and EPS and JPG downloads. CirculateQR has no frames and exports PNG, SVG (basic codes) and PDF print sheets.
  • Team logins, folders, custom short-link domains and, on higher plans, white label. CirculateQR has none of these.
  • SOC 2 compliance, CSV bulk upload (from Advanced) and a Canva app. CirculateQR doesn’t claim SOC 2 and has no CSV upload.
  • A longer wind-down: codes keep redirecting for 30 days past the paid period, against CirculateQR’s 14.

Switching

How to switch from QR Code Generator

A printed dynamic code keeps depending on the provider whose short link it holds; a static code holds its content and depends on no provider. Move in this order:

  1. Sort your printed codes

Scan each one. A QR Code Generator short link (or a custom domain set up through it) means a dynamic code that depends on QR Code Generator; a code that opens your own address, WiFi or contact card directly is static and depends on no provider.
  2. Set up the new codes first

Create your CirculateQR codes, pages and rules before changing anything, so every scan has somewhere to go.
  3. Repoint codes before the paid period ends

You can change a dynamic code’s destination, and even its type, after printing; after cancelling, only until the paid period ends. Point each code at its new destination first, such as a CirculateQR page.
  4. Reprint, then let the plan lapse

Codes then redirect for 30 more days without edits, then point to a service page. CirculateQR can’t take over a custom short-link domain, as it has no custom domains. New CirculateQR dynamic codes rely on CirculateQR’s short link (circulateqr.com/go/…) in the same way; static codes rely on no provider.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a good alternative to QR Code Generator?

CirculateQR for more codes at the entry price, monthly billing, routing or AI art; QR TIGER for a lower price per code and CSV bulk creation; Uniqode for compliance and SSO; QR Code Monkey for free static codes.

Is QR Code Generator part of Bitly?

Yes. Its site and help center call it “QRCG by Bitly”, and its legal notice names Bitly Europe GmbH. This page covers qr-code-generator.com; we haven’t compared bitly.com itself.

When should I cancel QR Code Generator?

Once printed dynamic codes are repointed or replaced. You can edit until the paid period ends; codes then redirect for 30 more days without edits, then point to a service page. Static codes aren’t affected.

Does CirculateQR have team accounts?

No: no team seats, shared workspaces, custom domains or white label today. If several people need their own logins, QR Code Generator itself, Uniqode or QR TIGER’s Enterprise plan fit better.
